Teams are listed by winning percentage. Schools are listed alphabetical if the winning percentage is tied. In order to determine average place, 11th place was awarded to two teams who lost in the consolation semi-finals, and 13th place was awarded to four teams who lost in the consolation quarter-finals. In 1988, the tournament had sixteen teams participate and that trend has continued on to present day.
